ExpoGuest Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

ExpoGuest is developed by Joe Whyte under Cats With Thumbs Productions. This policy explains how the current version of ExpoGuest handles information when you organize events, manage travel, record sales and expenses, and use its optional features.

For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

Information you keep in ExpoGuest

ExpoGuest stores the information you enter in a local database and app files on your device. This can include event schedules, travel and reservation details, contact information, contracts, notes, sales, expenses, compensation, receipts, business-card images, and photographs.

You do not need to create an ExpoGuest account. ExpoGuest does not automatically upload your event database, financial records, contracts, or captured images to our servers. The current app does not include advertising or third-party advertising and analytics SDKs. We do not sell your personal information.

Your financial records

Your sales, expenses, compensation, and other financial records are stored locally on your device. ExpoGuest does not automatically send these records to our servers, Google Places, or other outside services.

You can choose to export financial reports or a full event backup and save, email, or share them using another app or service. Standard Share Event files exclude financial records, personal travel, contracts, receipts, connection records, and private feedback. Full private backups include financial records and other private event information.

ExpoGuest currently records transactions; it does not process customer payments or connect your records to Square, Stripe, or other payment processors. If we add those features, we will update this policy to explain the resulting data use before releasing them.

Location and place searches

If you choose Use My Location and grant permission, ExpoGuest accesses your device's location to fill a ride pickup or destination field. The device's location service may process coordinates to return an address. ExpoGuest does not track your location in the background.

When you use place-search features, ExpoGuest sends relevant search text, selected place identifiers, airport codes, temporary search-session identifiers, and, where applicable, a location used to improve search results to our hosted lookup service. That service requests results from Google Places. These requests do not include your financial records or full event database.

Our place-lookup service is hosted by Expo. Expo and its infrastructure providers process network requests and may handle technical information such as IP addresses, request times, and operational logs to operate and secure the service. Our lookup handlers do not save searches to an application database. Provider-held logs are subject to the provider’s retention practices; we do not promise immediate deletion of those logs. Google handles information it receives under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy. Expo Privacy Policy explains Expo’s handling of service information.

ExpoGuest's ride entries are for your own reference. You record trip locations and manually enter what you spent. ExpoGuest does not book rides, request an Uber or Lyft, or send your ride records to those providers. Optional place searches for these fields use the lookup service described above.

When you explicitly open a map or directions link, ExpoGuest passes the selected place or destination to Google Maps in an app or browser. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. This does not book transportation or send your recorded trip costs.

Camera, photographs, and documents

With your permission, ExpoGuest uses the camera to photograph business cards and people you meet. Captured images are saved in the app's local files. ExpoGuest does not automatically upload them, perform facial recognition, or send them to an image-analysis service.

You can also select documents and receipts to attach to your records. ExpoGuest accesses the files you select. Images and attachments may be included in a full private backup, and you can explicitly choose to email a saved connection photograph. Please obtain appropriate permission before photographing or sharing another person's information.

Calendar, email, exports, and backups

Optional calendar features access calendars as needed to let you select a calendar and export or update the convention entries you choose. If that calendar syncs with another service, your calendar provider may receive those entries.

Email and sharing features create files or prepare messages for you to review in your mail app or device's sharing interface. Your selected recipients, apps, and storage services receive whatever you choose to send or save and handle it under their own policies.

Full private backup files contain sensitive records and attachments and are not encrypted by ExpoGuest. Share them only with intended recipients and store them securely.

Your device's backup settings may also copy app data to Apple, Google, or another backup provider. ExpoGuest does not control those device-level backups.

Purchases and support

When you purchase ExpoGuest, the app store handles payment and purchase information under its own policies. ExpoGuest does not receive your payment-card details through that purchase.

If you contact us for support or privacy assistance, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments you send. We use that information to respond and resolve your request. Please avoid sending financial records, contracts, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.

Your choices, retention, and deletion

You can decline or revoke camera, location, and calendar permissions in your device settings. Features that require a declined permission may be unavailable; other features remain usable.

Local records remain until you change or delete them or remove the app's local data. Archiving an event keeps its records. Deleting an event removes its database records; deleting a connection removes its saved contact and associated images. Some detached files or temporary exports may remain in app storage until the app's data is cleared or the app is removed.

To remove all local ExpoGuest information, use your device's option to clear the app's storage or delete the app and its data. Offloading an app or preserving its data is different from deleting that data. Separately delete exported files and device or cloud backups if you want those copies removed. Deletion in ExpoGuest does not retract copies already shared with others or remove exported calendar entries automatically.

Support correspondence is retained while needed to address your request and any necessary follow-up or legal obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of correspondence we hold, subject to applicable obligations. We cannot delete local records on your phone remotely or delete copies held by your chosen recipients or service providers.

Security

We use HTTPS for ExpoGuest's hosted place-lookup requests. Local data protection also depends on your device's security, permissions, and backup settings. Keep your device secured and take care when exporting sensitive files. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

ExpoGuest is designed for convention guests and other people managing professional events. It is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when ExpoGuest's features or data practices change. The published page will show its effective date. Where a change requires a new permission, disclosure, or consent, we will provide it as appropriate.
